Colombian guacharaca / Ortalis columbiana

It is a medium-sized, elongated bird, brown in color with a scaly pattern on its neck and chest. It has a long tail, strong legs, and a small reddish patch on its throat. It lives in forests, jungle edges, and rural areas, where it usually moves around by walking among branches or taking short flights.

Fun fact:

It is famous for its loud, raucous song at dawn, which sounds like repetitive laughter. In many rural areas of Colombia, it is considered the “natural alarm clock” of the countryside.
